President Donald Trump lashed out at a reporter who asked about the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi during an Oval Office meeting with the man accused of ordering his killing, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“Mr. President, is it appropriate, Mr. President, for your family to be doing business in Saudi Arabia while you are president, is that a conflict of interest?” a reporter from ABC News asked during the Oval Office meeting on Tuesday. “And, your royal highness, the U.S. intelligence concluded that you orchestrated the brutal murder of a journalist. 9/11 families are furious that you are here in the Oval Office.”
“Who are you with?” Trump interrupted.
“I’m with ABC News, sir,” the reporter replied.
“One of the worst, one of the worst in the business!” Trump complained. “But I’ll answer your question. I have nothing to do with a family business.”
“I’ve been very successful. I decided to leave that success behind and make America very successful,” he continued. “As far as this gentleman is concerned, he’s done a phenomenal job.”
Moving on to Khashoggi, he harangued the reporter by saying, “You don’t have to embarrass our guests by asking a question like that.”
