‘Going to get killed’: Jasmine Crockett flags Trump trick to thwart Epstein files release

A top House Democrat seemed to identify a trick President Donald Trump could use to prevent the Jeffrey Epstein files from being published, even though the president says he supports releasing the documents.

On Sunday, Trump called on House Republicans to vote to pass legislation to release the Epstein files, a stark reversal from just days ago when he said Republicans who continued to focus on Epstein were “stupid” and “foolish.” Trump’s reversal comes as reports indicate hundreds of Republicans were likely to support the legislation with or without the president’s approval.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) discussed one way Trump could still prevent the files from being published during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead.”

“I think that this is going to get killed some way, somehow,” Crockett said. “The other option is that I think they’re going to do the very same thing and not necessarily the same thing, but the very reason that the files cannot be released before is because there were active cases that were taking place.”

“All the cases have been concluded because this administration decided they didn’t want to talk about Jeffrey Epstein, so they weren’t going to investigate whatsoever,” she continued. “So now the files can be opened…Well, if there are open cases, then that is [the[ excuse for not allowing those documents to be out.”
