Late Night Sifts Through 20,000 Emails of ‘Trump/Epstein Lore’

Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.

File Under ‘Frenemies’

U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday released more than 20,000 emails in which Jeffrey Epstein made reference to President Trump.

“Trump’s people spent a year saying there are no Epstein files. Now there’s 20,000 pages and those still aren’t the files,” Josh Johnson said on Thursday’s “The Daily Show.”

“What happened? There’s now more pages of Trump/Epstein lore than Batman and Superman crossover.” — JOSH JOHNSON

“This is the downside of your people really having your back, because they were basically, like, ‘He got nothing to hide. Here’s 20,000 more emails!’” — JOSH JOHNSON

“So the G.O.P. didn’t do Trump any favors by releasing these emails. They basically saw his grease fire and said, ‘Let us add some water.’” — JOSH JOHNSON

“Yep, today Trump tried throwing the files into a dumpster behind the White House, but the whole East Wing was already in there.” — JIMMY FALLON

The Punchiest Punchlines (Two-Month Extension Edition)

“Last night, after 43 days, President Trump signed a bill to end the longest government shutdown in history. Yes. Over. It was a special moment. Air traffic controllers at Newark popped open a few bottles of champagne and then they found out the shutdown had ended.” — JIMMY FALLON

“Pilots are thrilled. They can finally stop landing planes using Google Maps.” — JIMMY FALLON

“Meanwhile, the deal only lasts for two months, so there may be another shutdown in January. Open, close, open, close. We’re basically the Toys “R” Us of governments.” — JIMMY FALLON

“I’m really glad all the federal workers are back. It’s been seven weeks since anyone has shaved the Lincoln Memorial, so.” — JIMMY FALLON

“Yeah, dozens of national parks will now reopen. Of course, wolves have fully taken over all of them, but they’re open.” — JIMMY FALLON

“So much has changed. 43 days ago, we were talking about the Epstein files, and today we’re all talking about the Epstein emails, so.” — JIMMY FALLON
