Willy Chavarria had a momentous 2024. Marked by two captivating runway spectacles – “Safe From Harm” for Fall/Winter 2024 and “América” for Spring/Summer 2025 – and wrapped up with his winning of the 2024 CFDA American Menswear Designer of the Year award (as well as Hypebeast’s Menswear Designer of the Year), Chavarria took to his Instagram to reminisce on “Safe From Harm.”
Initially shown on February 9 in a Brooklyn warehouse, “Safe From Harm” sees Chavarria “get closer and closer to actually what [he] wants to do,” per the designer at the time.
“This collection is very sensitive and I wanted to make sure that I’m not doing something that distracts from reality,” said Chavarria at the time of the show. “I want to recognize how we all feel right now, which is not so great. But at the same time, reminding us that we’re here for each other.”
“It’s more about letting things evolve naturally … It’s not just fashion. It’s more than that. This is a piece of it. But I like telling stories and creating things that make people think differently.”
