A man was killed and another person was hospitalized after a drive-by shooting in Sylmar.

On Nov. 1, Los Angeles County deputies responded to the 13000 block of Lopez Canyon Road shortly before 2:30 a.m.

Deputies found the victim, identified only as a 25-year-old man, with gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

There are reports the shooting occurred at Glen Haven and Sholom Memorial Park cemetery, but authorities have yet to confirm that detail.

Investigators learned that the 25-year-old victim was parked at the location with several other people when a small sedan drove by and someone inside the car fired several shots at the crowd, fatally striking him.

The shooter fled the scene before authorities arrived.

No suspect description was provided and the motive behind the deadly shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information on the case is asked to call LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
