Former President Barack Obama is expected to join Representative Mikie Sherrill Saturday night in Newark, the latest in a string of visits by Democratic Party leaders as New Jersey’s hotly contested governor’s race enters its closing stretch.

Three Democratic governors — Wes Moore of Maryland, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan — also swept into the state over the past several weeks, as did Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. On Thursday, Pete Buttigieg, the former transportation secretary, boarded a bus to crisscross New Jersey with Ms. Sherrill, making calls en route to thank campaign volunteers.

The Republican nominee, Jack Ciattarelli, has had fewer reinforcements from his party show up, although several big names have jumped in to support his campaign in the final sprint before Election Day on Tuesday.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate who is now running for governor of Ohio, joined Mr. Ciattarelli on the campaign trail, as did Representative Byron Donalds, who hopes to be Florida’s next governor. Puerto Rico’s governor, Jenniffer González-Colón, came to the state, as did far-right media figures, including Benny Johnson and Jack Posobiec.

Sean Hannity, a Fox News host, held a town hall-style broadcast on Thursday with Mr. Ciattarelli at a yacht club in Point Pleasant, N.J.
