Sydney Sweeney isn’t letting body-shaming trolls get the better of her.
On December 11, The Daily Mail posted a series of backyard bikini photos of the 27-year-old actor, who recently finished filming a biopic about ‘90s boxing powerhouse Christy Martin. If the photos—which were taken while Sweeney was sunbathing outside of her own home in the Florida Keys—were not invasive enough, The Daily Mail’s comments section was riddled with trolls who felt way too comfortable talking about the Euphoria star’s body (a phenomenon Sweeney is all too familiar with).
In response, Sweeney compiled a bunch of the most egregious—and, frankly, ridiculous—comments for an Instagram smackdown, posting them alongside behind-the-scenes videos of her intense Christy Martin training regiment. The actor shared the video without a caption on December 13, letting clips of her in the boxing ring do the talking. And no, she did not blur out the identities of the body-shamers who posted their full government names.

Horrible comments aside, it’s only been a couple of months since Sydney Sweeney openly discussed her discomfort with paparazzi “hiding in bushes” outside her home. Back in October, she revealed photographers once showed up at her house in Florida, yelling at her family to bring her outside. “They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,’” Sweeney told Glamour for her 2024 Woman of the Year cover interview.
“When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk,” she explained. “Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”
Despite online conspiracy theories, the actor vehemently denies hiring these photographers herself, asking, “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?”
She continued, I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”

There’s no question the Anyone But You star has already “made it.” It’s what comes next that will make her a Hollywood legend. As she puts it, “I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I’d like to do in my life.”
