‘He’s a sociopath’: Trump ignites firestorm with flippant admission on retaliatory strikes

President Donald Trump sparked outrage on Thursday after he offered a flippant response to a question about whether Americans should be worried about Iran striking the U.S. at home.

In an interview with Time Magazine, Trump was asked about Iran’s strikes on the U.S. embassy in Kuwait, which killed six Americans, and whether Iran could strike on U.S. soil.

“I guess,” Trump said. “But I think they’re worried about that all the time. We think about it all the time. We plan for it. But yeah, you know, we expect some things. Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die.”

Trump’s remarks set off a firestorm of outrage online.

“The President says we should worry about terrorist attacks against America in retaliation for the war he started,” former Obama White House staffer Jon Favreau posted on X. “‘People die.’ That’s all we get.”

“For a war whose goals we still don’t know,” Tim Nichols, staff writer at The Atlantic, posted on X.

“Kewl bro,” former Republican lawmaker Adam Kinzinger posted on X.

“I guess.’ What a leader!” Dem strategist Mike Nellis posted on X.

“Not him or his family. Ordinary Americans will die, who didn’t want this illegal and unnecessary and avoidable war,” Zeteo News founder Mehdi Hasan posted on X. “He doesn’t care. He’s a sociopath.”
