Dating coach explains ‘bro science’ reason men should buy women flowers

Dating coach Margarita Nazarenko has delivered a “bro science” lesson on why men should buy their significant others flowers on Valentine’s Day – and on other random occasions.

Nazarenko, who hosts the popular self-development podcast Becoming Her, shared a video with her primarily female audience, urging them to send it to “the man who did not buy you flowers on Valentine’s Day.”

“Hi, you’ve done nothing wrong,” she begins, addressing men. “I’m on your side, so don’t be afraid. In the next 60 to 70 seconds, I’m going to explain the ROI of buying flowers using bro science.

“Men understand return on investments, so let’s talk numbers.”

She then breaks down the maths.

“The cost of said flowers is $40 to $80, depending where you live, but the duration of the impact is three to seven days,” she explains.

“Every time she walks past the flowers, she thinks of you. That’s multiple positive mental impressions per day. It’s basically low-cost brand reinforcement about how great you are.”

Her second point is that flowers signal effort without any pressure: “You don’t have to say the right thing, write a poem, be Mr Darcy, or plan an expensive trip. You just show up with something that says, I thought about you. That builds emotional credit, and emotional credit compounds over time, meaning later you can get away with other things.”

She then says that when a woman shares a photo of flowers with her friends, other men see it, which subtly signals that she’s valued by you.

“Perceived competition increases attachment, and that is basic psychology,” Nazarenko continues.

“Point number four, let’s zoom out. If you bought flowers every other month, that’s six times a year. Let’s say $60 each time. That’s $360 a year. For $360 a year, you get a woman who feels consistently considered by you, which means fewer arguments about effort, less emotional auditing, more softness from her, and more affection from her.

“You spend more than that on things you don’t even remember, my guy.”

Then, she says that for extra brownie points, don’t just buy flowers on Valentine’s Day but give them on a “random Tuesday” to get your woman to become “obsessed” with you, “because that’s not obligation, it’s intention.”

Comments immediately flooded the post, with many women thanking Nazarenko for her PSA.

“You need to do more of these videos,” said one woman.

“Someone translate this in every possible language please,” a second wrote.

“This is currently my favourite video on the internet,” a third said.

However, some said that if a man needs a video like this, “he’s not the one.”

“Ew, the fact we have to explain,” said one woman.

“Men deserve to be alone if they need a video explaining why they need to be a lovely person,” a second wrote.

“If you have to send it, it’s not worth it,” a third wrote.
