Neighbor reveals chilling details just before Studio City homeowner shoots alleged burglars

A shaken neighbor of the Studio City homeowner who opened fire on a pair of alleged burglars early Tuesday described waking up to a suspicious car running in the street – before gunshots rang out.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she instantly had a bad feeling when she awoke around 4 a.m. to a black Chevy “rumbling” across from her home on leafy Laurelcrest Drive.

“I just have a spidey sense about these things,” she told The California Post.

“I just couldn’t believe they were that bold.”

The neighbor said she took out her laser pointer and shined the red light at the car’s wheels – prompting the driver to turn the car off. But it wasn’t enough to spook him.

The woman’s husband woke up and ran outside to jot down the car’s license plate number and take a picture of the vehicle – and that’s when they heard gunshots ring out from their neighbor’s $2.4 million home.

“We heard the shot and then right after it we heard what sounded like somebody running,” she recalled.

The alarm on her neighbor’s house then sounded – and “that’s when I went inside and called 911.”

Police said one of the suspects, a 16-year-old, was struck by gunfire before they fled in the Chevy.

It’s unclear whether the homeowner, who has not been identified, will face criminal charges.

California’s stand-your-ground law allows people to legally defend themselves against immediate threats, including the use of deadly force.

However, the state balances the right to self-defense with the prevention of unnecessary violence.
