‘Traitors’ star Ron Funches reveals autism diagnosis after facing ‘cruel trauma’

Ron Funches is opening up to fans.

The comedian, 42, revealed on Instagram that he was diagnosed with autism after viewers watching his performance on Season 4 of “Traitors” suggested he might have the condition.

“Well the internet told me I was autistic and was right,” Funches wrote on his Instagram Stories on Thursday. “You win this round.”

The TV personality added, “Thanks @thetraitorsus for helping me find out more about me through some type of cruel trauma.”

Before signing off, Funches shut down fan theories about his sexuality, writing, “Still not gay yet.”

Just one day earlier, the standup, whose son Malcolm, 21, was diagnosed with autism at 2 years old, shared just how his interactions on “Traitors,” which were sometimes curt, led to a later-in-life diagnosis.

Now, Funches said he will wait until his “diagnosis is done” to call himself “autistic.”

“I honestly didn’t know I myself had Autism I thought I was just an ally and parent of an autistic child,” he wrote on Threads after the episode aired, “but the way I felt I wasn’t being comprehended or understood while I thought I was being direct and seeing some of my own mannerisms made start the process of going to get a diagnosis.”

During his time in the castle, Funches immediately made waves after spearheading Porsha Williams’ banishment, and teamed with Donna Kelce, who was a secret traitor.

He also got into a verbal argument with a few fellow cast members, including Dorinda Medley. At the roundtable, the former “RHONY” star, 61, said she tried to get to know Funches and learn about his family, to which he said his family is “none of your f–king business.”

However, over the years, Funches has been a vocal advocate for the autism community.

“Happy Autism Awareness Day!” he penned on Instagram in 2022. “Thank you to my son who brought autism awareness into my life, and continually teaches me so much every day.”

This past spring, Funches opened up about how proud he is of his son Malcom amid his own diagnosis.

“He’s got great discipline, and I don’t know where he got it, because I never disciplined—I didn’t know how,” the “Loot” actor said in an April 2025 Instagram video. “Especially having a teenager and having someone have autism, I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what was teenager related. I didn’t know what was autism related.”

“I don’t know which of these things made him download 60 episodes of ‘The Price Is Right,’ but I know that’s not normal,” continued Funches. “’The Price Is Right’ is a fine show, but it is the same damn show every day. I’m like, ‘Son, did you need to fill the entire DVR with ‘Price is Right?’ He’s like, ‘I’m just trying to keep season stats, dad.

He added, “I’m like, ‘OK, so, it’s the autism. Carry on.’”
