Imprisoned MAGA ally caught on camera in physical altercation with fellow inmate

New video footage shows imprisoned MAGA election conspiracy theorist ally Tina Peters getting into a physical altercation with a fellow inmate.

In the footage, released to Next 9NEWS by the Colorado Department of Corrections, Peters is wheeling a large cart across the room when another inmate approaches and seizes the other end of the cabinet as Peters tries to get it through the door. Peters then lunges around the cabinet, grabbing the other woman around the head and neck, and the two struggle for several seconds before Peters shoves her away. After more people arrive on the scene, Peters exits through a door on the other side.

According to Next 9NEWS, a social media account that relays information from Peters’ legal team says she has been moved to solitary confinement and will be charged with felony assault, but describes what happened as an act of self-defense and claims she is being wrongly blamed for instigating the fight.

“Tina was inside a maintenance closet to fill up a water unit when an inmate approached her in the closet and began striking her in anger. Tina raised her hands and pushed the inmate away,” said the post. “This incident is clearly a targeted attack against Peters. In all likelihood, it is being used as an opportunity to isolate and harass Tina Peters.”

Peters is the former clerk of Mesa County, where she carried out an illegal scheme to tamper with election equipment to try to prove that the 2020 presidential election had been rigged against President Donald Trump. She was sentenced to nine years in prison, and since then, her release has become a cause célèbre on the far right.

Some Trump officials even pondered a scheme to declare Peters a witness in a federal case, transferring her into the federal system so that she could be given luxury accommodations similar to the deal given to Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. However, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche reportedly pumped the brakes on this idea.

Last month, Trump issued a “symbolic” pardon of Peters, which has no legal effect because the president can only pardon federal charges. He has since demanded Colorado Gov. Jared Polis grant her clemency, and moved to punish the entire state as long as this is not done.
