CNN presses DHS as videos show U.S. citizens roughed up in immigration raids

CNN anchor Pamela Brown put Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin on the defensive after viral videos showed immigration agents in Minneapolis violently detaining U.S. citizens and demanding proof of citizenship. As the Trump administration insists the stops are based on “reasonable suspicion,” Brown repeatedly pressed for specifics, highlighting footage in which Americans were questioned about their birthplace with no clear justification. McLaughlin struggled to explain the encounters, deflecting blame onto the media even as Brown noted the videos themselves — not press commentary — are fueling fears that routine immigration operations are sliding into a police-state tactic against citizens.
