‘What a stupid question’: Trump demeans reporter in latest insult aimed at females

President Donald Trump fired off yet another attack on a female reporter Sunday night, attacking her question about his plans in Iraq as a ‘stupid question.”

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump demeaned the CNN reporter for asking about Iran’s response to his warnings.

The exchange followed Trump’s comments about the escalating situation in Iran, where the regime has conducted a deadly crackdown on nationwide protests and threatened to retaliate against U.S. military bases if Trump intervenes in the country’s internal affairs.

Trump issued a stern warning to Iran: “If they do that, we’ll consider things, targets, that they wouldn’t believe. If they do that, we will hit them at levels that they’ve never been hit before.” He added that Iran would face “a very, very powerful force” should it attack American targets.

When a reporter asked, “Do you think Iran takes your threats seriously?” Trump responded dismissively. Though the reporter’s network affiliation wasn’t stated, Trump identified her as working for CNN.

“I think so. Don’t you think so, CNN?” Trump replied, then catalogued previous military operations including the 2020 assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, the 2019 strike that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria, and recent U.S. military action in Venezuela that resulted in the removal of President Nicolás Maduro.

Trump then mocked the question in a disparaging tone: “She says, CNN, ‘Do you think they take your threat seriously?’ Wouldn’t you say they do after all of the things we’ve done? What a stupid question.”

Trump has frequently attacked reporters covering him, with particularly harsh treatment directed at female journalists in recent months. He previously called CNN’s Kaitlan Collins “always Stupid and Nasty.” When CBS correspondent Nancy Cordes attempted a question during a Thanksgiving press event, he responded: “Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?” He has also called New York Times reporter Katie Rogers “ugly,” dismissed ABC’s Mary Bruce for asking “a horrible, insubordinate, and just a terrible question,” and directed a “Quiet, piggy!” comment toward Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey.
