Suspect ID’d as Calor Madansecht in U-Haul truck attack on anti-Iranian regime protest that injured 2

LOS ANGELES — The madman who smashed a U-Haul truck through a crowdof Iranian-American anti-regime protesters, injuring two, has been identified as Calor Madansecht.

The man was identified in booking records, ABC7 first reported.

Investigators said a motive is still under investigation.

Cops say he plowed the vehicle — which had slogans that denounced both Iran’s monarchy in exile, the shah, and the current regime — through an anti-Islamic Republic protest in Westwood on Sunday.

The attack was targeted at hundreds of residents and Iranian-Americans who had gathered for a planned protest.

Videos show the maniac driving a large rental truck into a dense group of demonstrators.  The vehicle was plastered with a large sign reading: “No Shah, No Regime. USA: Don’t Repeat 1953. No Mullah.”

The sign referenced the US-backed Shah, who took power in 1925 following a coup. He was overthrown and forced to flee during an Islamic revolution in 1979, and the grand ayatollah is still the supreme leader of the nation of 92 million.

He calmly sat behind the wheel as onlookers screamed and protesters mobbed the truck.

Some attempted to stop the vehicle by surrounding it and striking it with flagpoles and other objects, police said.

Officers arrested the suspect at the scene. Two injured protesters were taken to the hospital.

The demonstrators were marching in solidarity with Iranians calling for an end to the theocracy led by Ali Khamenei.

At least 648 protesters have been killed in an ongoing crackdown on anti-government demonstrations in Iran, according to a human rights group.
