The report notes that this latest development — joining recent headlines including the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, Trump’s threats toward Greenland, and the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minnesota — will again distract from White House messaging focused on cost-of-living concerns. Politico reporters Jack Blanchard and Dasha Burns questioned the timing of the prosecution.
