‘I called it’: Dem strategist sounds alarm after predicting Trump’s next White House plans

A Democratic strategist sounded the alarm Thursday evening over what they say is President Donald Trump’s next target of destruction at the White House.

On Thursday, Trump’s architects revealed that in the wake of the administration’s demolition of the East Wing to make room for Trump’s ballroom, plans were underway to make an “addition” to the West Wing to “reinstate symmetry” to the White House.

Last November, Chris Jackson, a Democratic strategist and chair to a local Democratic Party organization in Tennessee, warned that Trump’s ballroom project was merely a ploy to “turn around” and demolish the West Wing under the guise of making the White House complex “proportional.” And on Thursday, Jackson pointed to his past warning as having come true.

“OH MY GOD,” Jackson wrote Thursday in a social media post on X. “I CALLED IT. THEY ARE GOING TO DESTROY THE WEST WING NEXT. [White House Historical Association President Stewart McLaurin], please stop this!”

Trump has advocated for the construction of a luxurious event space to be added to the White House complex for over a decade, and got his wish last year after greenlighting the construction of a 90,000 square-foot, $300 million ballroom where the East Wing once stood. The ballroom, however, was reportedly designed in a “hurried process,” has raised ethics concerns regarding its funders, and began construction behind schedule.

The bulldozing of the East Wing – constructed in 1942 – stunned critics across the political spectrum, and the backlash was so fierce that the Treasury Department began instructing staff not to share photos of its demolition.

The Trump administration has not stated that it intends on demolishing the West Wing. However, Trump also said, prior to the demolition of the East Wing, that the construction of his proposed ballroom would not “interfere with the current building,” and that the ballroom would be “near” the White House but “not touching it,” claims that later proved to be false.
