corpulent ˈkɔrpjələnt adjective

: excessively large; very overweight

The word corpulent has appeared in five articles on NYTimes.com in the past year, including on Sept. 4 in the Opinion essay “My Daughters’ Slang Taught Me Something Cool About How Language Evolves,” by John McWhorter:

My daughters’ BFF was vastly amused (for reasons beyond me) by a meme of a rather corpulent cat eyeing a fast-food delivery through a glass door, with the caption “Chill out, biggie, it’s not for you.”
