The Trump administration is throwing its full force at Minnesota, reportedly deploying roughly 2,000 federal agents to Minneapolis as part of a sweeping immigration crackdown tied to allegations of mass welfare fraud.
Trump officials have targeted Minnesota and its Somali community amid allegations of widespread fraud. Last month, President Donald Trump labeled the community “garbage“ and dispatched federal immigration authorities to crack down on the state.
Now, an even stronger show of force is coming, CNN reported Monday, citing law enforcement insiders.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and US Border Patrol forces are flooding into Minnesota, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commander Gregory Bovino.
When pressed about the massive deployment, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told CNN: “While for the safety of our officers we do not get into law enforcement footprint, DHS has surged law enforcement and has already made more than 1,000 arrests of murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and gang members.”
