Donald Trump called into his favorite program Fox & Friends from his private club in Mar-a-Lago to tout his attack on Venezuela.
The president bragged about it playing out like a TV show.
Trump first revealed U.S. forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and were flying them to New York in a post on Truth Social.
“I watched it literally like I was watching a television show,” Trump declared during his call to the morning show early Saturday.
“If you would have seen the speed, the violence. You know they say that. ‘The speed, the violence.’ They use that term. It was um, it just was an amazing thing,” Trump said. “It was an amazing job that these people did.”
The president said he had a room set up to watch “every aspect of it” and was surrounded by “lots of people, including generals.”
He praised the team for doing an incredible job, saying they “rehearsed and practiced like nobody’s ever seen.”
He also claimed he was told by what he called “real military people” that there was no other country on earth that could do what the U.S. did.
He said the “maneuver” involved a massive number of landings and aircrafts including fighter jets and helicopters.
“They just broke in, and they broke into places that were not really able to be broken into. You know, steal doors that were put there for just this reason,” the president rambled. “They got taken out in a matter of seconds. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
An anchor chimed in to ask if the president was able to watch it in real time, which Trump confirmed.
“And don’t forget I’ve done some pretty good ones in other parts of the world,” Trump added. “I’ve done some pretty good ones,s but I’ve never seen anything like this.”
“I watched it in real time, and I watched every aspect of it, and I listened to the communication between where we were in Florida and out in the field in Venezuela,” Trump said.
The president said there were a “few injuries but no deaths on our side.”
Trump first posted about the strike just after 4 am ET.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” he wrote.
It came after the U.S. had been ramping up a large-scale pressure campaign on the authoritarian regime.
The president was asked about the decision to carry out the strikes early Saturday. He responded by joking about whether the Fox & Friends anchors were asking about calling the strikes or calling into the network.
Trump said he called the network first because host Charlie Hurt was a great friend and with him “when it was not fashionable.” He went on to praise the Fox News team. The host clarified he was asking about the decision to carry out strikes.
That’s when the president revealed they had been planning to carry out the attack four days ago, but it had to be postponed due to the weather.
