Mary Trump, the niece of Donald Trump, has claimed the president has “no self-awareness” following an awards ceremony which lays bare what he wants.
The president received the FIFA Peace Prize ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Mary Trump believes the award is not just to appease Trump, but makes him look foolish. The political commentator and Trump biographer believes the award is an embarrassing moment for the president, and those who look a little closer know why.
Speaking in a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, Mary Trump said the president has a “neediness, a grasping nature, an unending thirst for recognition” which may be the key reason he accepted the FIFA Peace Prize.
She said, “The Nobel Peace Prize Donald so unaccountably craves will never be his because he keeps murdering people on boats in the Caribbean Sea and starving children in America and abroad. So, the powers that be at FIFA came up with a FIFA Peace Prize.”
Mary Trump went further and suggested Trump should be “ashamed” by the FIFA Peace Prize, which she believes was given to him so he does not interfere with World Cup plans. She said, “If Donald had any self-awareness at all, which of course he does not, he’d be embarrassed, ashamed by that.”
“He’s being mocked and manipulated. So the question remains, why does Donald need even meaningless gestures like that to make himself feel better about himself? We need to understand the dangers of having such a damaged, depraved deviant in the Oval Office.”
Going on to quote from her biography of Trump, Too Much and Never Enough, Mary Trump claimed the president had been “incapable of growing” since the age of three. She wrote, “Donald’s need for affirmation is so great that he doesn’t seem to notice that the largest group of his supporters are people he wouldn’t condescend to be seen with outside of a rally.”
She went on to suggest there is a “black hole of need” in the president. Mary Trump added, “Maybe, he desperately hopes, someday that void will be filled. Maybe receiving more compliments, having more people grovel and degrade themselves and debase themselves for him, will finally make him feel whole.”
