This Bronx nabe was the biggest whiner of 2025 — and these were NYC’s biggest gripes

The Bronx is home to the biggest whiners.

A corner of the borough blitzed the city’s 311 center with the most complaints of any neighborhood in 2025, city data shows.

Wakefield is apparently besieged by ear-blasting noise, according to the whopping 153,082 service calls placed in its zip code, 10466, between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of last year.

That’s roughly 100,000 more complaints than what the neighborhood with the second-highest number of complains filed in the same timeframe.

The runner up, Flatbush in Brooklyn, or zip 11226, logged 50,918 calls to the non-emergency line.

Williamsbridge and Highbridge, also in the Bronx took third and fourth place with 48,730 and 48,420 calls, respectively.

The increasingly trendy Ridgewood, Queens came in fifth place, with zip code 11385 making 46,409 complaints.

Overall, the Big Apple made 3,550,018 complaints to the call center in 2025, a 2.7% increase from last year.

Like Wakefield, the biggest gripe across the city was illegal parking, overtaking noise, which was the biggest annoyance of 2024.

More than 577,000 of the service calls were dedicated to the drivers ditching their cars in bus lanes, blocked fire hydrants and more.

But noise was also a major issue for the city that never sleeps — there were 463,349 residential noise complaints and another 173,049 street and sidewalk calls.

Most were dedicated to loud music and partying, with another chunk pertaining to banging, but there was also thousands of complaints against “loud talking.”

The Big Apple also found issues with rat sightings, garbage storage, blocked bike lanes and more.

There were also dozens of complaints for illegal animals — including a few about monkeys.

More than 840 calls have already been made just two days into the new year, with 38% complaining about noise.

Queens logged the first gripe of 2026, with an eagle-eyed resident reporting a pothole on Hempstead Avenue in the Rockaways.
