A plastic surgeon who has worked in Washington D.C. for nearly 15 years said this second Trump administration is unique in that she’s noticing a “Mar-a-Lago face” trend she has had to say no to.
Dr. Anita Kulkarni this month did a Substack interview in which she was asked all about the D.C. trends in the second administration.
Kulkarni noted that the D.C. aesthetic has always been for more understated looks, but not anymore.
“This new administration comes in, and for the first time in more than a dozen years I’ve been in practice in D.C., this is the first time I’ve seen this type of request that I’ve had to say no to,” she said. “These women would come in and ask for more, when they already have product in their face,” she added, calling it a “safety issue” as well as one based on one’s appearance.
She continued, but refused to say more about the status or position of the individuals she has had to reject after they asked for additional filler.
“There’s a point at which you can’t put anything else into your face,” she said. “And so that’s the real difference that we’ve seen this time is that the women that are in the extreme side of this administration aesthetic, they want you to know that they’ve had stuff done. And that is just – it’s such a departure from our normal aesthetic in D.C. and the type of patient that I normally see.”
Kulkarni also pointed specifically to people like Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. and a former co-host of “The Five” on Fox News, as well as right-wing influencer Laura Loomer.
One thing that’s very common now, she said, is “overdone cheek filler.”
“The interesting thing with overdone cheek filler is that the smile changes and it goes into a Joker-type smile,” she said, pointing to a picture of Guilfoyle.
“It looks like the Joker,” she added.
