A woman has been found dead after her husband allegedly intentionally rammed a pickup truck into their home — shortly after he was hit with a temporary restraining order, cops said.
The wife’s body was discovered inside the home in San Diego’s Bay Park neighborhood after the Toyota Tacoma plowed through the front wall and sparked a fire just after 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
The woman’s husband, who hasn’t been identified publicly, was found inside the Dakota Drive home suffering from severe burns after fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, NBC7 reported.
The driver, who was rushed to UC San Diego’s burn center following the grim discovery, is set to be questioned by investigators once he receives treatment, according to police.
Cops are still trying to determine exactly what led to the crash but they believe the husband intentionally drove the truck through the home.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the wife was struck by the vehicle or if her death was caused by other factors.
“It’s not clear what the nature of what caused [her] death — whether she was hit by the truck, deceased naturally, already inside the house or if she passed from some other type of means,” San Diego homicide Lt. Chris Tivanian said.
“It’s not clear if the crash triggered the fire, if it was set intentionally, we don’t know that yet.”
The ordeal unfolded after the husband was recently hit with a temporary restraining order, 10News reported.
Neighbors also noted the husband had moved out of the home roughly a month earlier.
“I kept looking and, he hadn’t been coming home,” neighbor, Nancy Allan, said. “So I got kind of concerned and thinking, ‘Uh oh, what happened?’”
Several days prior to the incident, Allan said she spotted the husband speeding through the neighborhood.
“Didn’t stop, didn’t wave. And it’s just unlike him, so I thought something’s wrong. Something’s up,” she said.
The Post reached out to San Diego police but didn’t hear back immediately.
