Fox News host Lara Trump defended his father-in-law’s latest decision to blow up Venezuelan boat loading facilities by insisting strikes on foreign territory were “what the American people voted for.”
After President Donald Trump confirmed the strike on a Venezuelan port, Lara Trump spoke Tuesday with “Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones about the attack.
“It is interesting in the escalation that’s happening in Venezuela,” Jones noted. “The president made a phone call with [Venezuela President Nicolás] Maduro a few months back and pretty much gave him an option.”
“And he said, stop having these drugs that are there come to the United States, stop the boats,” Jones continued, “and so now it has escalated from the strikes on the boats now to the port, and many people are saying the next thing is other strikes on land on the actual sites where the other drugs are being held.”
“Yeah, well, and this is what the American people voted for,” Lara Trump insisted. “They, the number one job of government is safety and security of our people, right?”
“And you’ve heard about the war on drugs,” she added. “This is the war on drugs in action. He designated — this president designated these drug cartels and the gangs as foreign terrorist organizations. He designated fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. And he said, don’t bring it here.”
“And if you dare try to bring it here, we’re going to do exactly what you’re seeing on your screen right there.”
