The wife of Stephen Miller, Trump’s close aide and immigration policy architect, was hit by furious backlash Monday after she commented on a CBS “60 Minutes” reporter’s reaction to the spiking of an investigative report.
Katie Miller attempted to shade reporter Sharyn Alfonsi, who alleged her work was being censored by “MAGA-curious” CBS News chief Bari Weiss, The Daily Beast reported.
Weiss pulled a “60 Minutes” report at the last minute on Sunday. It was expected to be critical of the Trump administration and its treatment of migrants detained by ICE and transferred to El Salvador’s CECOT prison facility. Alfonsi, the reporter who oversaw the segment, subsequently went public and called out her boss by providing behind-the-scenes details about the decision to spike it.
Miller wrote the following post on X late Sunday:
“When you want to become the story, you’ve lost any shred of journalistic integrity. The Legacy Media loves talking about themselves and is openly hostile to anyone who dare question their utter righteousness. 60 Minutes is a clear partisan program masquerading as impartial journalism.”
Internet users didn’t hold back in their reaction to Miller’s remarks.
“I missed why the story of your husband’s sadism should be spiked,” lawyer Stephen Kaus wrote on X.
“It is @bariweiss who became the story by insisting @StephenM has to be on air lying & language policing before we can see @60Minutes accurate reporting,” photojournalist Steve Rhodes wrote on X.
“Was that a pig I saw flying past?” Timothy Isaacs, a cybersecurity expert, wrote on X.
“Her standing up to her boss who is trying to censor her reporting is the very definition of journalistic integrity,” a user named Jonathan wrote on X.
“You not realizing that this perfectly describes Bari, who immediately decided to turn herself into on air talent, is hilarious. I appreciate your lack of self awareness, it provides endless entertainment,” political consultant Matt Dearing wrote on X.
