Beloved filmmaker Rob Reiner’s wife, Michele Singer Reiner, had an accomplished career as a photographer, including capturing the original cover photo for Donald Trump’s book “The Art of the Deal.”
Police were called to the Hollywood icon’s home Sunday afternoon, where they discovered the longtime couple dead from apparent stab wounds.
As investigators probe the disturbing double homicide, much of the attention has focused on “The Princess Bride” director, but his wife also carved out a notable career behind the camera and in Hollywood.
How the couple met
Reiner met his second wife while filming his 1989 box-office hit “When Harry Met Sally” — an experience he later said played a key role in shaping the film’s iconic ending.
“I’d been married for ten years. I’d been single for ten years, and I couldn’t figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody,” Reiner told CNN’s Chris Wallace last year.
“That gave birth to ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ I hadn’t met anybody, so it was going to be the two of them seeing each other after years, talking, and then walking away from each other.”
“The original ending had Harry and Sally not ending up together,” Reiner revealed, but after meeting Michele, he said it inspired him to change it to the now fan-adored ending in which Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s characters reunite.
“But then I met Michele and I thought: OK, I see how this works,” he added.
The couple’s romance quickly blossomed into wedding bells, with the pair marrying in 1989 — the same year the rom-com hit theaters. They later welcomed three children: Jake in 1991, Nick in 1993, and Romy in 1997.
Singer Reiner’s work as a photographer
One of Singer Reiner’s most notable achievements came before she met the “A Few Good Men” director, when she worked as a photographer and shot the cover photo for Donald Trump’s 1987 book “The Art of the Deal,” according to her IMDb page.
She later worked as a photographer on the “MysteryDisc” video games and, following her marriage to Reiner, on his 1990 thriller “Misery,” based on Stephen King’s novel.
Acting and production credits
In addition to her photography work, Singer Reiner appeared in the 1994 Steve Martin comedy “Mixed Nuts.”
She later served as a producer on several Reiner projects, including “Shock and Awe” and “Albert Brooks: Defending My Life,” earning an Emmy nomination alongside her husband, who directed the documentary.
She also produced “God & Country,” a documentary examining Christian nationalism in the United States, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Investigation
The LAPD responded to the couple’s home at 3:40 p.m. and found two deceased victims, describing the deaths as “an apparent homicide.”
Sources told The Post that the couple’s 32-year-old son, screenwriter Nick Reiner, has been listed as a person of interest in the stabbing.
A knife is believed to have been used in the attack.
