Seasonal Giving

December 2 this year is known on social media as #GivingTuesday, a day when you are invited to take a break from buying things, and, instead, show generosity to others. The GivingTuesday website suggests thinking about it this way:

A better future is being built by all of us right now, in the billions of small actions we take each day. Acts of care, love, and understanding extend outward, like the threads of a beautiful tapestry. Whether it’s offering a kind smile, a helping hand, or an hour of your time — these acts have a way of rippling out, becoming part of something much greater. That is the power of radical generosity.

What do you have to give? What people, issues or causes are important to you? What can you do this holiday season to “give back”?

Tell us in the comments, and then check out the 2025 Giving Guide from the Opinion section to consider gifts that can save lives and that can help those facing catastrophe.

Students 13 and older in the United States and Britain, and 16 and older elsewhere, are invited to comment. All comments are moderated by the Learning Network staff, but please keep in mind that once your comment is accepted, it will be made public and may appear in print.
