Not content with warning Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem that she is putting herself in peril after admitting she defied a court order from Supreme Court-connected Judge James Boasberg, MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough made fun of her delivery when she appeared on “Meet the Press” over the weekend.
Pressed by host Kristin Welker over reports that she ignored the judge’s order to halt immigrant deportations, the Donald Trump appointee shot back, “The decisions that are made on deportations, where flights go, and when they go are my decision at the Department of Homeland Security, and we will continue to do the right thing and ensure that dangerous criminals are removed.”
After sharing the clip on “Morning Joe,” Scarborough explained, “You know, Judge Boasberg has been called many things in his storied conservative career as a judge, but an ‘activist judge’ never once before the Trump administration. In fact, there are a lot of conservatives on the United States Supreme Court that have been extremely close to Judge Boasberg. He ran in conservative circles for decades now.”
“And I don’t know,” he continued. “As you know, I’m just a dumb country lawyer. I don’t really understand the complicated ways of Washington politics and law, but I do know that sounded a lot like a confession from Kristi Noem when she said, ‘They are my decisions and not the decisions of activist judges.”
“One other footnote, she said,” the “Morning Joe” co-host added as he adopted a child-like voice to mimic Noem claiming, “I will continue to do what I need to do to take dangerous criminals out of this country.”
“ProPublica reports that I believe well over half the people that were deported and chained were every bit as dangerous as the young woman, the Babson student that was seized coming back from visiting her parents,” he elaborated, while citing a New York Times report.
“Are those the dangerous criminals, Kristi? Are those the dangerous criminals you’re saving us from?” he asked.
