Candy thieves struck an L.A. home on Halloween night, but what took the resident by surprise was the age of one of the perpetrators.
A KTLA viewer sent in home security footage from their Hyde Park residence that showed a group of trick-or-treaters approaching the front porch, where they had left several buckets of candy for the neighborhood, around 8 p.m. Friday.
The group consisted of five costume-wearing young children and one older, adult woman who was also wearing a costume.
“Get your [candy]…hustle up,” the woman can be heard instructing the children, before telling them to “leave some for the other kids.”
After taking a fair amount of candy, the group appears to leave – just as any other trick-or-treaters would. Only, moments later, one of the kids comes back and takes one of the two containers of candy left on the table.
Right in her wake was the adult woman, who casually took the other remaining bucket.
The child can be heard in the video telling the adult to take the other bucket of candy, despite the adult previously saying that they should leave some for other kids.
After leaving the table empty, the group left for good, presumably on the hunt for more sweets.
The resident who sent in the footage, meanwhile, says they are saddened by the fact that, even after indicating that they would leave some treats, the adult came back and did the opposite, complying with the child’s request to take the other bucket.
“It’s disappointing to see an adult encouraging and allowing this behavior on a night meant for kids to enjoy,” they said.
The resident also added that they filed a police report and that their cameras were able to capture the license plate of the car the group was traveling in.
