Los Angeles Dodgers star Kike Hernández may not be from Southern California, but he is showing support for Los Angeles in the face of civil unrest and protests that are also affecting the entire nation.

Hernández said exactly that in an Instagram post published on Saturday night.

“I may not be Born and Raised, but this city adopted me as one of their own,” the post reads. “I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city.”

The fan-favorite utility player went on to say that he has felt “welcomed [and] supported” by L.A. and Dodger fans since he joined the team in 2023 and that he has only felt kindness and love since he was traded back to the Dodgers.

“This is my seond home, and I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart,” he said. “ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights.”

He signed the post off with the hashtag #CityOfImmigrants.

Hernández, a native of Puerto Rico, played for the Dodgers from 2015 to 2020 before signing with the Boston Red Sox for two years. He was dealt back to the Boys in Blue in July 2023 in exchange for Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman.
