James Gunn is clearing some things up about his upcoming film, Superman.

The long-awaited DC Comics movie is slated to premiere on July 11 this summer, and there are rumors about the runtime.

A Threads user asked Gunn if the Superman runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes was correct, to which the filmmaker and DC Studios co-head replied, confirming it was accurate.

“Inclusive of credits/post credits the runtime is 2 hours 9 minutes,” Gunn confirmed.

Discussing the same topic of runtime, another user asked Gunn if it was true that Warner Bros. had forced him to make the film shorter.

“Zero truth to that,” Gunn replied, adding, “And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.”

Superman was written, directed, and co-produced by Gunn, and it’s the first film of the DC Universe titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel exploring Clark Kent’s journey to reconcile with his Kryptonian heritage and his adoptive family in Smallville.

Corenswet will star alongside Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Edi Gathegi (Michael Holt / Mister Terrific), Anthony Carrigan (Rex Mason / Metamorpho), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner / Green Lantern), and Isabela Merced (Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl).

Other actors that have roles in the film include Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Wendell Pierce, Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, Christopher McDonald, Sara Sampaio, and Terence Rosemore.

Characters that will crossover from the DCU include Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, the Engineer, and Milly Alcock as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl.
