The Indiana Fever fell to 2-2 on the young WNBA season with a loss to the New York Liberty. When the final whistle blew, the Fever lost by a final score of 90-88.

On the final possession of the game, Clark appeared to get fouled. However, no call was made, and Indiana lost the game.

There has been strong reaction following the no-call. Stephanie White, the Fever’s head coach, had some strong words for the referees. Clark has also spoken out about not being given the call.

White did not hold back her thoughts on the referees and their decision to not make the call.

“I thought it was egregious, honestly. I mean, I thought it was obvious,” White said. “You know, I felt like (Boston) got (fouled), had one going to the rim. (Bonner’s non-call) was crazy. And in Lexie’s, I felt like, equally, you know, we talked about coming into the path. And it was an offensive player, varying into the defensive player’s path. So, I mean, it is what it is. We have to be able to play through it. But at the same time, I feel like it’s really disrespectful.”

That tells a clear story about how Indiana feels about the referees. Clark also spoke out about the no-call and shared her immediate reaction to it.

“I haven’t watched it yet, but you know, we used our reset timeout, ran a similar play to what we did the other night when we played Atlanta here,” Clark said. “I don’t know. I have to go back and watch.”

Clark scored 18 points on 6-for-18 shooting, including 2-for-11 from the three-point line. She also dished out 10 assists and grabbed five rebounds, but her 10 turnovers were harmful to the team’s chances.

Aliyah Boston had an MVP-like performance against the Liberty, scoring 27 points on 12-for-19 shooting and also grabbing 13 rebounds.

On the other side of the court, Jonquel Jones led New York with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Sabrina Ionescu scored 23 points. Breanna Stewart put up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Looking ahead, Clark and the Fever will face off against the Washington Mystics on the road on Wednesday, May 28. They will look to get in the win column and above .500.
