DC Studios head honcho James Gunn has taken to X to reveal the official release date for Peacemaker season two.

The John Cena-starring series created by Gunn is slated to hit Max later this summer. Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the second season and will also be returning to direct some of the episodes for the new season. Writing in a post on X, Gunn confirmed, “Counting the days until Peace on Earth. I just finished the DI & Mix on the Season Premiere yesterday and wow it’s one of my favorite things ever. DC Studios’ #Peacemaker Season 2 coming soon only on @StreamOnMax August 21.”

The second season stars John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker as well as returning cast members Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Nhut Le and Robert Patrick August Smith. Other new faces include Sol Rodríguez, Brey Noelle and Tim Meadows. Season two premieres on August 21 on Max.
