Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a major Marvel who’s who.
With production reportedly set to start in London soon, Marvel Studios surprised fans with an ongoing livestream that announces a new cast member every 10 minutes. And the Marvel announcement today has featured some seriously shocking additions to the cast.
Marvel already broke the internet when it announced Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU for the ensemble flick – but not in his Iron Man suit.
Downey will instead be playing Doctor Victor Von Doom in Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which will be directed by the Russo brothers.
But Downey won’t be the only original Avenger to return to the MCU – even if he isn’t returning as Tony Stark. The first name announced in the livestream was Chris Hemsworth. And there’s many more where that came from. At the time of publication, the livestream is still ongoing.
Who’s returning to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday?
So far, the following names have been announced on the Marvel Studios livestream:
- Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier
- Letitia Wright as Black Panther
- Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor the Submariner
- Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
- Wyatt Russell as John Walker
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing
- Simu Liu as Shang-Chi
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
- Kelsey Grammer as Beast
- Lewis Pullman as Sentry
Kirby and Moss-Bachrach will be making their Marvel debut this summer in the Fantastic Four reboot, which also stars Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal. It remains to be seen if their co-stars will also be appearing in Doomsday. However, it makes sense that the super group will be making an appearance considering Doctor Doom is one of their main foes.
Pullman will also be making his Marvel debut in Thunderbolts, which is set to premiere May 2.
Mejia’s return to the MCU comes as a major surprise considering the actor was accused of sexual misconduct in 2023, which he has since denied.
Previous reports note Chris Evans is also set to return for Doomsday, though it is unclear if he will be returning as Steve Rogers or in full costume as Captain America considering Mackie’s involvement. Deadline also reported Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as Agent Carter for Doomsday.
It looks like fans are hoping to see several other stars mentioned for the film, as Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, and Oscar Isaac are currently trending on X.
When will Avengers: Doomsday premiere?
Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated to hit theaters May 1, 2026.
Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for May 2027.
