Chelsea Handler is giving fans of The View an update on what happened with former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after she called on him to “penetrate” her the last time she was on the hit daytime talk show.
On this morning’s episode of The View, Handler reminded co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg of something she said when she appeared on a virtual broadcast of the show during COVID-19.
“Everyone was in love with Andrew Cuomo, myself included. I had a big crush on Andrew Cuomo,” she said. “And then I came on The View — I was on Zoom because COVID. I was talking to Whoopi and Joy and I announced my attraction to Andrew Cuomo because I wanted it to get out there. And I knew he would hear about it.”
“So I sat on this show, I shot my shot, and declared my desire to be penetrated by the governor of New York,” Handler continued. “And guess what? Guess who called me three days later? Yeah. The governor of New York.”
However, Handler said there was “never” any penetration since Cuomo “ghosted” her instead.
“I got ghosted by him, which was actually a lucky call because he ended up getting canceled shortly thereafter so I got out of there by the skin of my teeth,” Handler joked.
Cuomo was praised for his daily press briefings during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic back in 2020. But by the end of that same year, multiple women had accused the Democrat of sexual harassment.
An investigation led by the Justice Department ultimately determined that Cuomo had subjected more than a dozen women to “unwelcome, non-consensual sexual contact; ogling; unwelcome sexual comments; gender-based nicknames; comments on their physical appearances; and/or preferential treatment based on their physical appearances,” per CNN.
Cuomo ended up resigning from his position in August 2021.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
