The Volunteers lost 31-17 to Georgia in the team’s last SEC game but got a much-needed break last week by taking on UTEP in a non-conference game.
Tennessee won that game against the Miners 56-0. Star quarterback Nico Iamaleava was 17-for-23 for 209 yards with four touchdown passes in the contest, including a pair of connections with Bru McCoy. Peyton Lewis added two touchdown runs in the contest as well.
Now, Tennessee gets ready to face Vanderbilt, a team that’s certainly had its ups and downs in 2024.
The ups include a win over Alabama. The downs have featured three losses in the team’s last four games, including a 24-17 loss to LSU last time out.
Quarterback Diego Pavia was 13-for-24 for 186 yards with a touchdown in the loss and also added a rushing score. The Commodores will need to rely heavily on Pavia if they want to get the upset on Saturday. In the win over Alabama, he threw for 252 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
