John Mulaney and Olivia Munn‘s love story has been unconventional, to say the least, but it seems to suit them just fine. The comedian and the actor fell in love while growing their family, and are now one of the cutest pairs in town. Here’s all of their most significant moments, starting with the most recent.
2024
November: Munn and Mulaney open up about their relationship to GQ, and reveal that Munn staged a “mini intervention” during her pregnancy so that she could be more involved in his recovery, and that she still administers random drug tests. “It’s like a relief…I like to be able to not even have that be a question in her or anyone else’s mind,” Mulaney says, per People. “Something about peeing in that cup is like, I’m walking this walk. It gives me confidence.”
October: Mulaney reveals that Munn is constantly sending him texts reminding him to be more cautious. It’s very sweet.
September 14, 2024: A gestational surrogate gives birth to the couple’s daughter, Méi June Mulaney.

July: Surprise! The pair tie the knot in a “super intimate” ceremony in upstate New York.
2023
April: Despite genetic tests clearing her for a predisposition, Munn is diagnosed with breast cancer, she later reveals. “I’m so thankful to my friends and family for loving me through this. I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” she says in her eventual post. “For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
Mulaney comments, “Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you. ”

Many months and surgeries later, Munn is cancer free, and thanks Mulaney for all of his support. “It would’ve felt like climbing an iceberg without him,” she tells People. “I don’t think he had a moment to himself, between being an incredibly hands-on father and going to and from the hospital—taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me. And he did it all happily.”

February: Mulaney finalizes his divorce from artist Anna Marie Tendler.
2021

July 2021: Mulaney officially files for divorce from Tendler
Early 2021: Fresh out of rehab, Mulaney looks for a place in New York City and reconnects with Munn. Things turn personal, but they are not in a relationship when Munn discovers she’s pregnant. He’s also still legally married.
“It wasn’t anything close to ‘dating,’” Munn later tells GQ. “I barely knew him.” Initially, they agreed to co-parent from opposite coasts, but they became closer throughout the pregnancy. When Munn was six months pregnant, she began giving Mulaney random drug tests to ensure his sobriety as she got closer to giving birth. Two months later, they decided to raise the baby together, as a couple.
2020
In December, reports emerge that Mulaney was checked into rehab after a drug relapse and now-famous intervention, which he later details in his Netflix comedy special Baby J. In a now-deleted tweet, Munn writes, “sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney…you got this.”
2013
Over Labor Day Weekend, Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe marry on Martha’s Vineyard. Munn and Mulaney meet briefly.
