Conservative activist and political commentator Laura Loomer has hit back at critics with a defiant message in response to growing backlash over her recent statements and actions.
Loomer, known for her hardline stance on issues such as immigration and free speech, has faced intense scrutiny from both sides of the political spectrum in recent weeks. However, in a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, on September 15, she made it clear she has no intention of giving up.
“Never back down. You have no idea how many people have messaged me and told me they support me and that they thought what I said about @KamalaHarris was funny. People like people who say things they are thinking but are too scared to say out loud themselves,” Loomer declared.
Her post was in response to a comment by X user @Dominic28437836, praising Loomer. “Your strength is inspirational. We win win [sic] this country back. And you will be a big reason why,” he said.
Loomer’s comments came after a series of controversial appearances and statements, including making disparaging remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris‘ Indian ancestry, that have sparked outrage online, leading to calls for her to be deplatformed from social media sites.
On September 8, Loomer wrote about Harris on X, saying, “If Kamala Harris wins, the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand.”
Three days later, House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Trump’s most staunch supporters in Congress, hit back with her own X post, commenting: “This is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump.
“This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever. Laura Loomer should take this down.”
The backlash intensified following her criticism of prominent political figures and policies, which many have labeled as inflammatory and divisive.
Newsweek contacted Loomer online on Sunday outside of working hours for comment.
Loomer has been a staunch advocate of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, describing herself as a “genuine supporter of Donald Trump’s who has invested everything I have into supporting his campaign and I have dedicated my entire social life and all of my energy into helping him win.”
Following the televised debate between Trump and Harris, Loomer came out once again in support of the Republican on X, writing, “Donald Trump says he won the debate, and that the debate was between himself and three mentally challenged people. He’s so right. Donald Trump also said that he’s a genius. He truly is. One of a kind.”
Despite the growing pressure, Loomer insists she will continue to fight for what she believes in, framing the criticism as part of a larger effort to suppress conservative voices.
In a previous post on X, Loomer said: “Why are people mad at me for fighting for the truth, the American People and for Donald Trump? Someone has to have enough righteous indignation to stand up and fight for the truth. That’s all I’m doing. I am fighting against injustice and working hard to support Donald Trump.”
Her supporters have rallied behind her after her most recent posts that said she will not back down, praising her willingness to stand firm in the face of adversity.
“Keep doing your thing Laura!! Winning!!” said @Hunter_Eagleman
“You are a warrior Loomer! And loved and respected more than you know!” wrote @mhanna88 in response to another recent post made by Loomer.
Actor Randy Quaid also voiced his support for Loomer on X, saying: “Laura Loomer just won my vote to be Trump/Vance press secretary for her inflaming the fake news legacy media. She doesn’t manipulate and distort the truth, she weaponizes it.”
However, Loomer’s detractors argue that her rhetoric only fuels division and animosity in an already polarized political climate. Critics have accused her of using extreme tactics, such as interrupting House hearings, to garner attention, which they say undermines meaningful discourse.
The White House recently slammed Trump for traveling on a plane with Loomer, with spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre condemning Loomer’s “hateful rhetoric,” calling her words “repugnant” and “racist poison.”
Newsweek contacted Jean-Pierre via email on Sunday for comment.
Loomer has built a reputation as a provocateur, frequently drawing media attention for her stunts and outspoken views, as well as running for Congress.
As reported previously by Newsweek, the conspiracy theorist has a history of controversial social media posts that have included describing the 9/11 attacks as an “inside job” and boasting of being a “proud Islamophobe.” She had previously been banned from Twitter before Elon Musk purchased the social media platform.
As the backlash continues, it appears Loomer is doubling down on her approach, with her latest comments signaling a refusal to moderate her tone. Whether this will solidify her standing among her base or further alienate more moderate voices remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Laura Loomer is not backing down.
