The Buffalo Bills have made an addition to their quarterback room. On Monday, JL Sports Agency announced on social media that their client, quarterback Ben DiNucci, signed with the Bills. The terms of the contract are currently unknown.

DiNucci, 27, has appeared in three games at the NFL level, all with the Cowboys in 2020. In those three games (one start), DiNucci went 23-for-43 with 219 yards. He also had six rushes for 22 yards.
DiNucci was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He was one of 13 quarterbacks selected in a draft that is already climbing the ranks as one of the best in recent memory. Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and Jordan Love were all selected in the first two rounds of the draft.
DiNucci spent time on the Cowboys’ practice squad for the next few seasons, before being selected by the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons in the 2023 XFL Draft. DiNucci started 10 games and led the Sea Dragons to a 7-3 record and a playoff appearance. He led the league in passing yards with 2,671 while ranking second in passing touchdowns with 20.
In May 2023, DiNucci earned his second NFL opportunity with the Denver Broncos. However, he never appeared in a game with Denver before being waived in May 2024.
DiNucci is now getting his third NFL opportunity, this time with the Bills, and is joining a quarterback room full of talent. At the top is two-time Pro Bowler Josh Allen, who’s entering his seventh season with the Bills and will be the team’s Week 1 starter barring an injury. Behind Allen is former No. 2 overall pick of the Chicago Bears, Mitchell Trubisky, who was with Buffalo in 2021 and appeared in 12 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers over the last two seasons.
Finally, the current third-string quarterback is Shane Buechele, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and is yet to make his NFL regular season debut.
DiNucci will presumably compete with Buechele for the third-string quarterback spot. In the Bills’ preseason opener on Saturday, Buechele went 6-for-10 with 53 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Trubisky completed 10 of 18 passes for 82 yards, while Allen went 2-for-2 for 22 yards.
The Bills’ next preseason game is on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
