A video of a self-proclaimed “56-year-old gun-owning country boy” has gone viral as he says he plans to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
The video appears to have been initially posted to TikTok by a user who goes by Vic Meyers. It later went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, after it was posted to the account Republicans Against Trump, and gained 5.8 million views.
In the video, the man, who appears to be Meyers said, “I’m a 56-year-old, white, gun-owning country boy, and if Kamala Harris thinks she can get my vote, well she’d be right.”

He continued, “Because I’m also a grandfather. We failed to leave my kids’ generation a better world, and now I’m worried not just about the kind of world we’re leaving my grandkids, but what kind of country will we leave them? That other guy? I’m also a veteran, from a long line of veterans, and he’s just not safe.”
Meyers has just six videos on his TikTok account about his stances on specific issues including gun reform, Project 2025, and more, each starting with his signature catchphrase “I’m a 56-year-old, rural, gun-owning white guy.”
In a recent video about gun violence, Meyers said, “Kamala Harris favors an assault weapons ban, background checks, red flag laws, and things I’d vote for.”
He continued, “We had an assault weapons ban for 10 years, and nobody came for my guns. But after it expired, we got countless mass shootings like Sandy Hook, Parkland, Ulvade, and so many more. I’m not worried about losing my guns, I’m worried about losing a lot more if the other guy gets in.”
His video is just one part of a mass effort to garner support for Harris from white men, as a three-hour Zoom call titled “White Dudes for Harris” took place last week, with approximately 190,000 participants.
Organized by Ross Morales Rocketto, the Zoom call raised approximately $4 million, and featured appearances from celebrities including Josh Gad, Jeff Bridges, Mark Hamill, Mark Ruffalo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sean Astin, and more.
The group, with an official X page and website, found inspiration for the call and subsequent fundraising efforts after a Zoom call for Black women supporting Harris went viral and raised over $1 million in a few hours.
Some high-profile conservatives have also denounced Trump. The former Republican Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan criticized Trump for his comments about Harris’ racial identity at the National Association of Black Journalists convention last week.
In an interview with CNN, former Republican Lieutenant Governor of Georgia Geoff Duncan denounced Trump and other Republicans backing him when he said, “We have to call him out for what he is — he’s a felonious thug who walks down the street and throws sucker punches at people.”
He continued, “My hope is that Kamala Harris ends up being a blank canvas for us to be able to help work these new policies and new ideas into place, that’s the risk I’m taking as a Republican voting for Kamala Harris.”
