Joy Behar was ready to fight her fellow View co-hosts for the affections of their executive producer Brian Teta during a conversation about platonic relationships, ironically, on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show.
While discussing Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen‘s latest Apple TV+ comedy Platonic, Whoopi Goldberg asked the panel if they feel as though platonic friendships can work — leaving Behar to make the hilarious connection to her relationship with the EP.
“I feel like I have a platonic relationship with Brian, our executive producer,” she said.
When Sara Haines chimed in, “I do, too,” Behar fired back, “Shut up! He’s mine!”
She continued, “And during the break before, I invited him to take a sniff [of my neck] to see if my perfume is holding up. Is that a platonic thing to do? Or a romantic thing?”
The camera then cut to Teta, who delivered an unexpected response to the comedian’s question.
“Well, I’m dead from the waist down so it doesn’t really matter,” he said, sending the table into hysterics.
Goldberg — who spent the first half of the segment fighting tooth and nail over why platonic friendships do, in fact, work — added, “This is why it’s almost time to end this conversation. Because I feel like your wife is gonna be calling any minute.”
This is hardly the first time the ladies have called out to their EP during a Hot Topics segment. Just last month, they even turned to his wife Heather, who was sitting in the audience, for insight on their 19-year marriage — much to Teta’s dismay.
“I said specifically, under no circumstances go to my wife in the audience,” he told the co-hosts, before Alyssa Farah Griffin replied, “You knew we were going to!”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
