This is a shout out to her ex (bandmates).
Jesy Nelson has revealed that she hasn’t spoken to her former Little Mix gal pals in over two years since quitting the band in 2020.
The 31-year-old previously said performing alongside her ex-bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, made her “truly unhappy.”
Speaking to the Sun, Nelson said she hasn’t spoken to the trio since, despite calling them her “sisters” in previous interviews.
“Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time,” she told the outlet “You don’t have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with.”
“For me my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled – and I really, really struggled with it,” she added.
Nelson said she doesn’t regret her time in the band, but ultimately did “what was right for me.”
“So no, we haven’t talked since then,” she said. “Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting.”
In the two years she hasn’t kept in touch with her former pals, Edwards and Pinnock have each welcomed children, respectively.
She added that she’s “rooting for all of them.”
In late 2021, Edwards, Pinnock, and Thirlwall all unfollowed Nelson on Instagram after she was accused of blackfishing in the music video for her debut solo single, “Boyz,” featuring Nicki Minaj.
After being hit with fierce backlash over her appearance and singing style in the music video, Nelson took a step back from the limelight.

She acknowledged the backlash that year in an interview with New York Magazine’s Vulture, insisting that she’s “just 100% being myself.”
Nelson exited Little Mix in December 2020 after nearly 10 years, explaining that her time in the group had taken a toll on her mental health.
The band was put together during the 2011 season of “X-Factor” — which saw them become the show’s first group to win the contest.
