A Wisconsin woman is facing more than half a century behind bars after she allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy several times earlier this month.

On March 24, the mother of the 13-year-old boy reported to Green Bay police that 27-year-old Kaitlyn Skar had groomed her son into engaging in a sexual relationship. Skar met the unnamed victim through his aunt, who lives near Skar. When Skar and the boy first met, she offered him some cookies and to take a hit on her vape pen.

Though the boy supposedly told her at the time that he was only 13, the two exchanged phone numbers and soon began sending text and Facebook messages to one another. According to reports, their conversation quickly turned sexual, with Skar telling the boy that he was making her “horny.”

She eventually persuaded the boy to take a bus to her apartment, where she allegedly had sex with him in her bedroom. The two had sex on at least two but possibly three other occasions between March 14 and18, reports indicate.

The reportedly criminal relationship then changed as quickly as it began after Skar sent the boy a video message that he ignored, prompting her to threaten to send someone to beat him up, reports said. When the boy told Skar that he had been cheating on her, she reportedly countered that he couldn’t cheat on her because “he was only 16 years old” and “didn’t know what cheating was.” The next day, Skar apologized to the boy, saying she “wasn’t trying to go to jail.”

The boy’s mother eventually discovered the text messages and contacted police. When confronted by the authorities, Skar supposedly admitted that she had lured the boy into a sexual relationship but that she had thought he was 16. The age of consent in Wisconsin is 18.

Skar has been charged with several felonies, including first-degree rape, repeated acts of sexual assault of a child, and child enticement, and faces more than 60 years in prison if convicted. She remains in Brown County Jail on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on April 4.
