A Fox News reporter interrupted her report on a school shooting in Denver, Colorado, to hug her son, who was a student at the school.

Alicia Acuna was reporting Wednesday for Fox News at their Denver bureau on a school shooting at East High School. Acuna had a son, stepsons, and a niece at the school during the shooting, but she went on air after confirming that they were all safe.

While she broadcast live from the school, she saw her son.

“Excuse me, my son just came up, and I have not seen him,” she said.

“Come on! Come up here!” she said to him before hugging him. “I’m sorry, I have not seen my kid since this all went down.”

Acuna apologized for pausing her report, but she received universal acclaim and support for the emotional moment. Many of her colleagues praised her for her poise during such a difficult situation.

“Alicia Acuna is an absolute pro even in the most horrifying of circumstances. I have so much respect for her poise in the midst of living every parent’s worst nightmare,” responded Garrett Tenney, a Fox News national correspondent.

“Colleague and friend Alicia Acuña @aacuna1 did a remarkable job reporting live from a shooting at her children’s high school in Denver today. Here she is hugging her son. So glad they are safe. Love you Alicia,” replied Brian Llenas, also of Fox News.

Two faculty members were shot, but no students were harmed in Wednesday’s incident. One of the victims was in critical condition while the other is in stable condition. Police are searching for the suspect, who is a 17-year-old black male about 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighing 150 lbs.

“We will find that suspect, and we will hold that suspect accountable for his actions,” said Mayor Michael Hancock.

Here’s the video of Alicia Acuna’s emotional reunion:
