She was barking up the wrong Christmas tree.
Kathy Hilton shared in a new interview that she thought her daughter Paris Hilton was going to surprise her with a dog over the holidays — but she got a grandson instead.
“We didn’t have our Christmas together ’cause she was working out of the country, so she said, ‘I have a surprise for you,’ and it was my Christmas present. And then she waited a few minutes, and she goes, ‘I have one more surprise for you,’” Kathy recalled to “Extra” last Thursday.
“And I thought, ‘Maybe it’s gonna be a puppy or something’ because my husband [Rick Hilton] and I lost our dog,” she added.
But the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said Paris came in with a baby boy in her arms, leaving her “in complete shock.”
“She walks in, and the blanket falls down, and I just go, ‘What? Who is this? What is this?’” Kathy said. “It was beautiful.”
Since meeting Paris’ son, Phoenix, who was born via surrogate, the Bravolebrity has been in full grandma mode.
“I just left him three hours ago. He is such a little angel,” she told the outlet, adding that the infant is “getting heavy and heavier every few days.”
Paris, 42, announced in January that she and her husband, Carter Reum, had secretly welcomed Phoenix, their first child together.
“It’s always been my dream to be a mother, and I’m so happy that Carter and I found each other,” she told People at the time. “We are so excited to start our family together, and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy.”
The “Stars Are Blind” singer later admitted that she kept the little one a secret from her family members.
“Not even my mom, my sisters, my best friend knew until he was over a week old,” she shared on her iHeartRadio podcast, “This Is Paris.”
“It was really nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together. I just feel like my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything be just mine.”

Paris softened the blow of keeping her baby under wraps by gifting her mom a pricey purse before telling her the big news.
“I was like, if I give her Chanel first, maybe she won’t be so upset that I didn’t tell her about this,” the DJ told Rolling Stone in an interview published last week.
Paris also gushed over her mom’s first interaction with Phoenix, sharing that Kathy, 64, was a blubbering mess.
“She’s like, ‘Is this yours?’ And she starts crying. She’s like, ‘Let me hold him. He’s the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen in my life. Oh, he’s so beautiful,’” she told the magazine, adding, “She was just in tears.”
Kathy celebrated Phoenix’s arrival by posing for a three-generation photo shoot with her grandson and the “Simple Life” star.
Meanwhile, Paris’ sister, Nicky Hilton — who has three kids with her husband, James Rothschild — taught the memoir author how to change a diaper.
“Paris was made to be a mom!” the fashion designer, 39, told Page Six exclusively earlier this month.
Paris’ aunt Kyle Richards, however, has yet to be introduced to Phoenix amid family drama.
“I’ve not met him yet,” the “RHOBH” OG, 54, told “Access Hollywood” last week, adding that she did send a gift. “I’ve only seen pictures, and he’s beautiful.”
Paris married Reum, 42, in November 2021. She and the venture capitalist, who has a daughter from a previous relationship, first confirmed their romance in April 2020.
