Prince Harry thought he might lose Meghan Markle after a nasty fight.
During an interview with Dr. Gabor Maté, Saturday, the royal, 38, discussed an argument that he wrote about in his recently released memoir, “Spare,” in which Markle, 41, threatened to leave him.
Harry now shares that he “needed that.”
“I really needed that,” he said. “I needed that pushback” and the thought of “losing her.”
In “Spare,” the Duke of Sussex confessed that he “became touchy” and “snapped” when a conversation with Markle “took an unexpected turn.” He remembers becoming “disproportionately, sloppily angry” with the “Suits” alum, addressing her “harshly” enough that “everything in the room [came] to a stop.”
After a brief interlude, Markle calmly let the royal know “that she would never stand for being spoken to like that.”
The Duke of Sussex explained that Markle’s calm questioning of where he learned to speak to someone like that “was a lightbulb moment.
“An understanding of how these things manifest themselves and how we are so much a product of our upbringing.”
Harry went on to rave about his American-born wife, whom he married in 2018, calling her an “exceptional human being.”
The California-based royal shared that he agreed with people who say, “my wife saved me.”
“I was stuck in this world and she was from a different world and helped draw me out,” he explained.

Harry also revealed that his wife allowed him to see that it was possible to change.
“Yes, my partner is an exceptional human being and I’m eternally grateful for the wisdom and the space that she’s been able to give to me.”
The couple bowed out of royal senior life in 2020 and have been living in California.
They share two kids: son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1.
