The White Lotus fans with Salma Hayek Pinault on their season three fan-cast list are about to be severely disappointed.
During her February Glamour cover interview, the Magic Mike’s Last Dance star quickly shut down the question before it could even be asked. “I’m not in it,” she said. “I know what you’re insinuating. It’s going to be amazing. He’s the very best.”
Of course, Hayek Pinault is referring to the irreverent vacation series’ one-man ring leader, Mike White, who once wrote a starring role for Hayek in the 2017 film Beatriz at Dinner (coincidentally, that film also featured White Lotus season one cast member Connie Britton). “He’s always been one of the most interesting human beings I’ve come across,” the 56-year-old actor tells Glamour. “I saw that talent in the first go.”
Just because Salma Hayek Pinault will not be joining the award-winning series’ third season doesn’t mean there’s no hope for the future. Remember, we almost didn’t get Jennifer Coolidge, either! “I turned down White Lotus to begin with,” Coolidge recently told Glamour. “I was trying to get out of it because there was no way I was going to do White Lotus after what I’d been through during COVID. But a friend of mine said, ‘For once in your life, you’re just going to have to do it. It’s the biggest mistake of your life if you don’t. You have to do this, Jennifer. It’s too stupid to turn this down.’”
Coolige has since won a Golden Globe and Emmy for her portrayal of The White Lotus’ messiest VIP, Tanya McQuoid (RIP). Coolidge continued, “I kept saying to her, ‘I’ll do it six months from now when I feel good about myself.’ And what crazy thinking that is—I could have blown it. I would have blown it.”
