The San Antonio Spurs could use a win to end their woes, but the chances of that happening in their next assignment do not look good.
They host a top Eastern Conference team in the form of the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, February 3 at the AT&T Center. It is a battle of two NBA clubs headed in opposite directions.
Philly is riding on the momentum of a recent win over the Orlando Magic, 105-94.
In that bounce-back win, the Sixers were led by their top duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden.
Embiid finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Harden had 26 markers, 10 dimes, and nine boards.
“I didn’t think we played great,” Sixers coach Doc Rivers stated. “But we played good enough to win. We’ll take that.”
The Sixers are scoring 114.5 points per outing, good for the 13th spot in the NBA at the moment. They likewise own an offensive rating of 115.2.
On defense, Philly is giving up 110.7 points per contest, fourth in the league. They have a defensive rating of 111.3, sixth in the NBA.
The Spurs may have their work cut out for them, especially with Jeremy Sochan listed as out for this encounter due to back issues.
Their latest loss came at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings leaned on bench players like Malaki Branham and Josh Richardson, who had 22 points and 19 points respectively.
Richardson also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
“They do it every game,” San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich stated. “They stick with it and they play hard every game. One out of every 10 or so, we might lay and egg, but everybody else does the same thing. I have always been pleased with their effort and their stick-to-itiveness.”
The Spurs are scoring 112.5 points per game and have an offensive rating of 110.4.
San Antonio is also surrendering 122.3 points per contest on defense.
The Sixers are installed as -9 spread favorites to prevail over the Spurs, who are the underdogs with a grade of +9. The moneyline for this clash is -425 for Philadelphia and +340 for San Antonio.
