Channing Tatum doesn’t plan to lie to his daughter about his past as a stripper.
The actor said in a new interview that when Everly is “old enough to watch” the R-rated “Magic Mike” movies, he will “have that conversation” with the now-9-year-old.
“There’s no version of me not having the conversation of ‘Dad didn’t just do them in movies, I was an actual stripper,’” Tatum, 42, told “Entertainment Tonight” on Wednesday.
“I’m not gonna lie to her,” he continued.
After the “She’s the Man” star dropped out of Glenville State College in West Virginia at age 18, he stripped at a local nightclub under the name Chan Crawford.
In 2014, Tatum told the Hollywood Reporter that he made “150 bucks … on a good night,” adding, “On a bad night, 70 bucks — even 50 at times. … Not as good as you think.”
The “21 Jump Street” star used his experience when creating and starring in “Magic Mike” in 2012, followed by “Magic Mike XXL” and “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” as well as live shows.
Amid the franchise’s success, Tatum became a dad. His then-wife, Jenna Dewan, gave birth to Everly in May 2013.
Since the “Step Up” co-stars’ divorce was finalized in November 2019, the “Dog” star has “become best friends” with his little one.
“I just dropped everything and just focused on her,” he gushed to Vanity Fair in an interview published last week. “It was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done.
“[The split] was probably exactly what I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work … on myself.”
While Everly is Tatum’s only child, Dewan welcomed son Callum, now 2, with her fiancé, Steve Kazee, in March 2020.
As for the “Lost City” star’s dating life, he has been in a relationship with Zoë Kravitz since August 2021.
Tatum told the magazine on Jan. 17 that he is uncertain whether he wants to tie the knot again or have more kids, and Kravitz, 34, appears to be on the same page.
The “Big Little Lies” alum, who was married to Karl Glusman from June 2019 to August 2021, explained to GQ in November 2022 why she is done “romanticizing” traditional milestones.
“Maybe I don’t want the thing that I’m supposed to want, a marriage, children, any of it. I don’t know if I want that at all,” Kravitz said.
“That’s an uncomfortable question, especially for a woman to ask herself.”
